Burritos and New Hair

I had 2 Burritos this week, one from a new place on Wexford Street called Burrito and Blues. It was nice and filling but a little too spicy for me. I prefer lots of flavour over hot and spicy. I can't deal with it! The second was a chicken one and was from a place just a few seconds walk from my apartment. I much prefered the second one. They also do great pies, coffee and cake!

Beef burrito with rice, red chilis, lettuce, tomato, onion, salsa and sour cream

Chicken burrito with rice, salsa, kidney beans and green olives. Side salad and cranberry juice!

So I got my hair done on Friday. Colour, cut and blow dry. It took 3 hours and I thought I might suffocate from the fumes but it was worth it. I was really surprised with the results because the stylist had to prepare me for the worst. It turned out a lot lighter than I had anticipated and a little shorter than I wanted. She also somehow managed to cut a small section of my hair at the back a lot shorter than the rest. I don't know how she managed that, but I'm going to assume it was a complete accident and that she didn't realise it. I don't think I'll go back there for a cut but I definitely will to get my colour done. When I went in for my consultation on Wednesday she said she wouldn't be able to give me the exact colour I wanted all over because of the colour I had in my hair already, but that she'd try and get me as close as possible and then if I come back in a few months she'll be able to get it to the lighter, more natural colour I want. But overall I'm very happy, especially because it was my first time getting hair colour done professionally. Here are some photos I took when I got home;

So what do you think? It's actually lighter than it looks in those first two photos because I had to use the flash, but there'll be an outfit post tomorrow where you'll get to see the colour more clearly.

Hope you're all having a good weekend so far. I went to see Let Me In today. It was a great remake of the original. The kids were amazing in it and parts of it really broke my heart to watch. Have you got anything planned for Halloween? I'm still debating whether to dress up or not.

I've always loved red hair and I'm very excited about having my hair anywhere near to these shades. I'm hoping to have my hair cut on Thursday and then coloured on Friday or Saturday. I figured breaking it into 2 appointments would mean it wouldn't take as long as it possibly could getting both done together. I'll keep you updated as to how I get on!

Today I did a little make up shopping before meeting some friends for coffee. One of my purchases was heavily influenced by advertising, but I don't think you'll blame me! I bought the shade of lipstick that Zooey is wearing in the latest Rimmel ads. Its called Heartbreaker. I just loved the colour on Zooey and I loved it even more when I tried it on. I'm happy to add a new shade to my lipstick collection. I wouldn't normally wear pink so it's a nice change!

The City I Walk In Feels Like It Swallows

I apologise for my lack of posting this week. To be perfectly honest, I've had a tough week emotionally. One of our nieghbours who lives in the apartment building opposite us threw herself from her fourth floor balcony on Monday afternoon. We only realised when Donnacha was going out to the shop and saw her lying on a stretcher. The ambulance crew tried to save her but she died. We saw the police taking photos of the scene and inside her apartment. It was so surreal. I only knew her to see, I didn't actually know her but she was obviously on some sort of drugs because she would stand outside her apartment building some nights shouting to be let in and clearly not in her right mind.

I couldn't stop thinking about it for ages, I just kept imagining how she must have been feeling standing there before she jumped. I can't understand it and I suppose it's hard for me to judge someone who feels that hopeless about their life. I found myself wishing I could do something to help people like her realise that their life is worth something even if they don't think so.

It helped to talk to my mam and dad and the girls in work about it. I find myself looking up at the balcony walking to and from work every day. If this is how I feel, I can't even begin to imagine how it felt to see it happen or for her family and friends. I hope those of you reading this never feel like that woman. Nothing is ever hopeless, we need to realise the affects our lives have on so many people and how they would feel to lose us like that.

Now onto something less serious. My sister and I went to see Warpaint in Crawdaddy in Dublin last night. It was an amazing gig, even the support band were very good. The venue was packed and the crowd were loving the band, singing along to all the songs even though the album isn't technically out yet. The girls seemed lovely, they said how grateful they were to be able to play here and thanked us for our support which I thought was really nice. I have to say I have a girl crush on the entire band! They're all gorgeous girls with great individual styles. Check out the few photos I took below.

I bought their new record The Fool and the EP Exquisite Corpse on vinyl

I did my eyes using Benefit's Smokey Eye palette. I've only used it once before after getting it as a present last Christmas, but it's really nice to use and turns out very well if you take the time to do it properly

I really like Crawdaddy as a venue because it's so intimate. I've seen Andrew Bird and M Ward here, both amazing gigs. I really hope the girls come back and I'm sure if they do they'll need to play a bigger venue.

I haven't done much else this week. I saw The Social Network on Sunday which was so captivating from start to finish and Despicable Me on Tuesday which was a lot of fun.

Hope you had a better week than me. Have you got any exciting plans for the weekend?

I'll leave you with my favourite song from The Fool;

You Got Light In Your Eyes

I wanted to show you my eye make up from today, it's green and gold eye shadows, the green is Clarins and the gold is L'oréal. To match my eyes! hehe! You can also see my hair colour more clearly here. What do you think? It's not too different from my actual hair colour which is why I want to go more drastic the next time. I'm excited about it!

I got a lot done during the day today. We cleaned the apartment (it needed to be done badly!), I made dinner and ran some errands and hung out with my sister tonight. Hope you all are having a good weekend so far. It's not over yet!

I'm leaving you with this song because it was the best part of the film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which I went to see during the week. Enjoy!

If You Wait Around A While I'll Make You Fall For Me

TGIF!

In today's post I wanted to share with you one of my favourite bloggers, Elsa Billgren. Elsa is from Sweden and works for Beyond Retro, a vintage clothing store with branches in Sweden and the UK and also writes a blog for the Swedish Elle site. Thankfully the language barrier isn't really an issue as my favourite part of Elsa's blog is her amazing photographs. I had been following her blog for a few months and a few days ago I gradually went through the archive and found some gorgeous photos. I hope you like them and I encourage you to check out her blog!

I love all of her delicious recipes

Elsa and her husband on their wedding day. Her dress is so beautiful!

This is my inspiration for my next adventure in hair colour

She has lots of Moomin mugs!

and the cutest outfits!

The thing I really like about Elsa and her blog is how fun it is, there is so much life in all of her photos and she's always smiling! I also love her style and how she manages to dress herself so perfectly, all of her dresses look amazing on her. What do you think?

I received more fake eyelashes in the post this week. These ones are way better than the other ones I have. They are more tapered so they get longer towards the outer corner of your eyes which gives a gorgeous doe-eyed effect. I took some photos of me wearing them yesterday and I tried to get a better photo of my hair so you could see the colour but it doesn't look much more different indoors so i'll try to take some outdoor photos at the weekend so you can see the colour properly.

Have you got any plans for the weekend? I need to clean my apartment :( but I'm going to see The Social Network too!

I'll leave you with a fave 80s song of mine to get you in the mood for the weekend! Enjoy!
