Every Cloud...and all that

This has just been one of those weeks. One of those weeks where everything goes wrong! I want to start by saying while I have had a pretty bad week, I am so thankful for the good things and I don't want to come off as ungrateful because I truly appreciate the life I have and how fortunate I am. Just a warning, this might be a very wordy post so bear with me, or just skip to the end!

A lot has happened this past week which all together has my nerves fried! Obviously there was the stuff going on with my mam and thankfully that situation seems to be getting better and I am so thankful for that because seeing someone I love go through something that they have no control over just broke my heart. Then there is stuff going on at work which again (sorry to be so cryptic) I can't go into even though I would like to, but it's very sensitive and we're all quite annoyed and upset about it and it has put our jobs at risk and I don't think my employers would appreciate me talking about it on the internet (I'm sure you understand).

Then on Friday Donnacha's vision started to go all funny. He was seeing double when his eyes looked at a certain angle and he was disoriented by it and we were both very worried. So Sunday he went to the optician he had gotten his latest glasses prescription from and she referred him to the emergency eye and ear hospital. We waited there for 4 hours on Sunday and when he was finally seen by the doctor she couldn't tell him what was going on so she told him to come back in the morning. He went back yesterday morning at 10am and after a few hours he was seen by another doctor who referred him to the hospital where they gave him a CT scan. He finally got home yesterday evening at 8pm and had to go back this morning for an MRI. Thankfully there was nothing abnormal on the MRI but that also means the mystery continues. I couldn't be with him because I had to work but also he told me he would prefer to be by himself and just listen to podcasts and not think about it.

To make matters worse, I got home from work today to find that two of the four apartments in our building had been broken into. Luckily ourselves and the other apartment had double locked our doors with a deadbolt so the scumbag thieves didn't get in, but it just makes me feel so uneasy and especially bad for my poor neighbours. Our building manager is getting a second lock for the front door of the building and cameras and alarms installed so hopefully whoever it was won't be so lucky if they try it again.

On a happier note, Donnacha's parents drove up today to collect him from the hospital and make sure he was okay. It was his father's birthday so we went out for dinner in Howth and this is what I had;

So we rounded off a crappy day with a lovely meal and we had a lovely time with his parents.

My apologies for the length of this post, I just had to get it all off my chest and I wanted to share with you all what has been going on with me because I had intended to take outfit photos at the weekend but of course that didn't happen. It has given me time to plan my next Film Inspiration post which I'm excited about!

If you've made it this far I really appreciate you taking the time to read my ramblings and I really hope you're week has gone more smoothly than mine! Right now I'm looking forward to my holidays from work in a few weeks time and Donnacha and I celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Going through things like this definitely makes you more appreciative of your loved ones and makes you remember to not take anything for granted!

Love,

Emma xx

  2. Sorry to hear about your bad week. Our flat was broken into a few years ago because we had gotten complacent and stopped double locking the front door. It's a real wake up call. If it's any consolation, I don't think there's anyone in the UK (or Ireland) that isn't worried about their job in one way or another. We live in such uncertain times. Look forward to more outfit posts when you're feeling better

  5. Oh Emma, what a week you have had! There sure are times when so many things go wrongly at once! I've just said a prayer for Donnacha that his eye problem ends soon. It is so upsetting to think of someone breaking in and stealing one's possessions. I'm glad to read things are better with your mom.

    Sorry for not posting comments on your blog, I did not even write you like I had promised when I said I would post about your Versatile Blogger Award. I had a computer problem, "slow keys". Thank goodness we now have internet service at home now. Thanks again for the award.

    There is nothing like a burger and fries to make one feel better! I loved the picture and am glad you all had a good visit together.

    May things get better for you soon. Please keep us updated on Donnacha. ♥♥♥
