Fire Sign

I always take a look at the latest MAC collections with very little intent of actually buying anything. One of the more recent collections which is still available is Heavenly Creatures. I really liked several things from this collection but decided to go for the Fire Sign lipstick after seeing some swatches of it. One thing I find really annoying about the MAC site is that the colour swatches can look nothing like they do in reality so you really have to look at them at the counter or image search them to get a better idea of what they really look like.

Other Make Up I'm Wearing;

Foundation- YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat BR20
Eye Shadow- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, Bootycall and Tease. Revlon Vintage Lace
Eyebrows- Revlon Rich Sable
Concealer- Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain
Mascara- Boots 17 Wild Curls Waterproof in Black
Eye Liner- No. 7 Amazing Eyes Pencil in Brown
Blush- Estée Lauder Mad Men Collection Creme Rouge in Evening Rose
Powder- No. 7 Perfect Light Loose Powder in Translucent

Fire Sign is a Lustre finish so it's very sheer in both it's colour and consistency. I haven't tried their Lustres before, just their Matte, Cremesheen and Amplified Creme finishes. To be honest I'm not that impressed with the formula of the Cremesheen and Amplified Creme lipsticks that I have. I don't really get what the big deal is about MAC lipsticks, I much prefer the consistency of my Revlon and Estée Lauder ones.

Having said that, I really love Fire Sign, it's such a pretty, subtle colour and is the perfect "daytime" red. I use quotation marks because I wear Russian Red during the day as much as any other lipstick! Because of the lustre finish it doesn't last very long on the lips and needs reapplication every couple of hours, but it's such a joy to apply, you barely need a mirror and the texture is almost like a balm, it feels so light.

I've really been converted to MAC lustres and I'm already eyeing up what ones to add to my list!

I'm just back from Electric Picnic so I'll have a post on that during the week.

  2. Hi Emma! I wanted to say "Fire Red" is your color and how beautiful it looks on your lips but then every lipstick I have ever seen on you looks beautiful! And they all seem to be "your" color! I will have to check out the Russian Red color that you mentioned. I hope you are having a great week in Ireland!

Thank you for your sweet comment yesterday! Take care ...

    1. I thought I was the only one! I guess it must depend on the shade, I just think they are overrated!

  5. Pretty!!! I am getting more and more into lipstick, though I still don't wear it every day, for a dress-up occasion I find myself more often wanting to pair a cute shade of lipstick as well :) Love this color!

  6. I have the hardest time applying red lipstick so this may be a product for me. That said I've had an even harder time finding a shade that suits my pale skin and that doesnt highlight any "spots". I'll have to check this shade out in the store and see if it might work for me. Thanks for the review lady :)

    1. I hope you find a red that suits you, I think red looks incredible on fair skin, try Russian Red next time you're near a MAC counter, it's one of those colours that suits most people!

    1. I like to look at make up online before I go into a store to swatch it or try it because you can usually get a good idea if you'll like something by looking at photos and reading reviews of it! It's pre shopping or online window shopping1 :) x

  9. I've never been able to justify spending money on good makeup brands like MAC etc, but you make it so tempting! Your eyebrows look so good, by the way. There's not much I like better than a nice full brow!

    1. Oh thank you Emma! I have to say I love a good full brow too! ;) I've only started properly buying higher end make up in the past 3 years, I used to always buy "drugstore" and I'll never have only high end make up because some drugstore make up is just as good and costs so much less! :)

  10. Excellent review Emma. I have totally given up on Mac listicks as they really dry out my lips and I find I end up with them all over my face.! Ha :-) . I havent tried the Lustres though, so maybe things could change. This colour is lovely. xxx
