The other day I had some time to film a makeup look while my daughter was napping. Most of my eyeshadow brushes needed to be washed so I thought I would do a look that didn't involve many brushes. Last week I was listening to the first, self-titled Beach House album and when I looked at Spotify I noticed the beautiful album cover art which I hadn't seen in a while. I thought it would be fun to create a makeup look inspired by the artwork. You can see below it almost looks like the contents of a messy jewellery box and having not used my face gem collection in a while I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.

My idea was to adhere the gems to my eyelids so that they resembled the strands of a bejeweled necklace. Rather than just using pearls, I wanted to add crystals and gold pearls too. I thought it would be fun to do a sixties-inspired shape with the rhinestones and then add lots of mascara for a wide-eyed, doll-like look.

I started the look with a thin layer of the Lisa Eldridge foundation (reviewed here). I'm almost at the end of the bottle which I've been using for 2 years now. I can't remember the last time I finished a foundation, it's sure to be in my next empties post. I posted a video on Instagram this week titled My Base Makeup Routine and that's pretty much the way I did my base for this look. I wanted it to look quite fresh to balance out the face gems. I used cream blush, the Finding Ferdinand X Kackie ones are so gorgeous. They sold out of the latest collection while I was checking out so sadly I missed out but if you're looking for a super creamy blush formula that's super easy to blend, the Finding Ferdinand formula is beautiful. You can also create your own custom shade using any Hex Code you like.

I used the Vieve Skin Dew on my cheekbones and I definitely want to get a full size of this as it's such a stunning liquid highlighter. It can be mixed in with other products too such as foundation, concealer, blush, lipstick etc. You can see in the video of this look below that I began the eyes with mascara as I wanted to make sure I was applying the face gems in the right place. You can also see me applying the Clio Kill Lash Mascara which is one of the best waterproof mascaras I've ever used. This is the 02 Volume Curling formula and it really does hold a curl all day as well as giving your lashes length and definition. It does take some elbow grease to remove but it's so worth it if you like a waterproof formula. I was sent this from Stylevana along with some other K-Beauty products and they gave me a code, SHOPGREEN that gives you an extra 10% off your entire order or 15% off if you spend over €48.

The final touch was the lips which again I wanted to keep quite fresh. I added some definition to my lipline using two different NYX Lip Pencils. Mauve is a great shade for me as it's slightly deeper than my natural lip colour, if you're a fellow cool-toned pink lip person, definitely check out this shade. I then used Nude Truffle which is more of a cool neutral sculpting shade on me and I used it to contour my lips ever so slightly. I blended the liners into my lips and then added Lisa Eldridge Gloss Embrace in the shade Silent Sun on top as it's a sheer gloss with some subtle warm gold sparkle.

I loved how this look turned out and I felt great wearing it. I toyed with the idea of doing some gold eyelashes or bringing the face gems down to connect to my lash line but I really liked the floating shape and I think it makes for a much more ethereal look. You could also up the glamour by adding individual lashes, more coverage, or a different lip product. This would be such a fun makeup look for a night out or even for a wedding. It's like wearing your jewelry on your face.
