Let Me Steal This Moment From You Now

It's an overcast Saturday evening here in Dublin and I am sitting down with a glass of Chardonnay. It's been raining on and off all day so unfortunately another Saturday goes by with no trip to the beach or picnic. Oh well! It makes me appreciate the rare occasions when the weather is consistently nice enough to do these things. My ipod is on shuffle and I have to say some great songs have played in the last few minutes including Pixies 'There Goes My Gun', Paul Simon 'The Boy in the Bubble', The Clash 'Rock the Casbah', M Ward 'Right in the Head', Air 'Surfin' On A Rock' and Patsy Cline 'Strange' to name a few!

Yesterday was payday thank goodness! Five week months are the worst! I had to buy a good few things in work for uniform because almost all of my uniform went into sale. I got a few cardigans in work for Autumn/ Winter that I know I will wear outside work too. Can't wait til it's cold enough to wear them! I also made a few online purchases including a dress from Maria of Lulu Letty's shop O Captain on Etsy. I'm going to alter the length a bit to make it a bit more wearable for Autumn (it's a maxi dress). So I'll show you that when it arrives. I ordered a necklace and some shoes on Etsy and another necklace from jewellery designer Zara Taylor. She makes the most beautiful vintage inspired jewellery. I wish I could afford to buy more! Maybe next month. I'll show you the piece I ordered once it arrives.

In the mean time I'll give you a look at some of my recent purchases

Wish Upon A Star Bangle

I thought since everyone is obsessed with the whole Alice and Wonderland inspired jewellery these days I'd go for something based on a different Disney film. I couldn't resist this when I saw it. "When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are..." Aw!

20s Glitzy Flower Bando

I wouldn't normally wear something like this, but it caught my eye and I said why not try something different!

Enamel Pansy Stud Earrings

I thought these were really cute!

I found these for €15 in Dunnes Stores. They're not the best quality, but I really liked the colours and they were very comfortable!

And now a few photos of what I wore today! I just wore a plain black dress so I put more accessories with it than I normally would.

I bought this necklace yesterday too

Bow Chain Ring

Trapped Peacock Ring

Who doesn't love peacock print stuff!

My Je t'aime Paris Bangle

I got this scarf in work last year. I have a slight obsession!

The studs I showed you in my last post

My clarks boots

I thought I'd show you my hair au naturel with no products or styling!
I'm letting it grow out at the moment, I want it to get really long!

This is how I did my eye make up today. I used a brown shimmery L'Oréal colour appeal eye shadow and another one in gold in the inner corner and lined my eyes with L'Oréal super liquid eye liner. I swear I don't work for them! Hehe!

Here's the look close up. I hadn't worn these colours in a while because I've been wearing a lot of strong lipstick colours lately and keeping my eye make up to a minimum.

So there you go! What do you think? I know I have a bit of a jewellery obsession! But I do get it for 75% off with my discount, so that's how I justify it. Ha! I'll let you know how my conflict resolution goes tomorrow. Hopefully it'll all work out.

How is your weekend going? Did you buy anything nice on payday? (or in general)

Here's some lovely Kate Bush;

Tears and Fears and Feeling Proud, To Say "I Love You" Right Out Loud

Good Evening,

I went to IKEA yesterday and here are the results;

They had special white princess cakes. They're usually green and remind me of a tennis ball

The guys got Swedish meatballs. I had a princess cake instead

My first plant! It's a Dracaena Marginata whatever that is

A variety of Daim goodies

I think I prefered it the first time I went. Yesterday was rather chaotic and I couldn't wait to leave! Also one of the employees was very rude to my boyfriend when he asked the man to correct a mistake made on his receipt. Hmm!

I also bought a few accessories in work yesterday to use up the last bit of my discount before it gets wiped. I took some pictures to show you!

My sister came over yesterday evening and loved this so I gave it to her!

Some bangles to go with my new uniform. It gives you an idea of the colour scheme

I couldn't resist these 80s inspired studs!

I had a lovely lunch with my friend Holly today. We got club sandwiches and coffee! I needed the distraction as I've been having a tough time emotionally this week. There are a few issues to do with several people in my life that I need to work through and I'm finding it very difficult. I was so happy to have Holly's company as she always makes me laugh. I've also talked it out with my boyfriend who advised me on the situation which was a big help. I'm so lucky to have him! I'm hoping to resolve one of the issues by next week so I'll let you know how it goes. Some potentially good news is that we may be possibly getting out rent reduced as the apartment above us has had theirs reduced. Here's hoping our landlord is good to us!

How is your week going so far?

I want to leave you with a song that always makes me cry;

So For Once In My Life Let Me Get What I Want

I'm rather looking forward to this week. Monday is almost over, tomorrow I am off work an hour early because I did an extra hour two weeks ago. Then I am going to buy some accessories to go with the new uniform I have picked out in work. Afterwards I'm going to IKEA hopefully to buy myself a nice plant for the apartment and some Daim cake (yum). On Wednesday I'm going to meet my friend and then I get paid on Friday. I like busy weeks! I also have some birthday present shopping to do, which I love!

Today Donnacha and I met Simon and Shona for coffee and muffins at the Bakery in Temple Bar (I'm sure I've mentioned this place a few times), they make a variety of baked goods including brownies, pies, cupcakes, flapjacks and sandwiches all fresh in their kitchen every day. It's the best place for baked goods in Dublin in my opinion and very reasonably priced compared to some other places. Donnacha and I shared a custard chocolate chip muffin, Simon and Shona shared a chocolate fudge brownie. Delicious!

Yummy Coffee

This is the Grattan Bridge, I never noticed these Mer-Horse Statues before

I noticed this on the way home. I've always thought Fishamble Street was a funny name

What I wore today

I haven't worn these earrings a while so I though I'd break them out again

I made my hair up all 40s style today. I think it looked nice, I'll get a better photo of it next time

You can't really see my hair clearly here but I promise it looked good!

I've been messing about with photo editing software a lot lately and these photos are the results. I told my boyfriend I would make him a DVD cover for his last feature film so I'm thinking of doing something with photoshop. I'll keep you posted on the results. I just wanted to ease myself into it and then get onto the more complicated stuff. I'm looking forward to learning all about it!

I was reminded of how much I love this song while watching Never Been Kissed the other day. Not that I need reminding of how much I love The Smiths. It's been covered by Muse and Zooey Deschanel to name a couple but there's nothing like the original. There is a great version at the end of This Is England, the Shane Meadows film which if you haven't seen I can't recommend it highly enough, an absolutely amazing, funny, disturbing and heartbreaking film. So here you go;

Hope you all had a nice start to the week. I'll let you know how IKEA goes!

Goodnight,

We Can't Go Back Toward The Light, When You Were My Friend

Hello lovely readers! How is your weekend going so far? I had a yummy lunch the other day and I just wanted to share it with you.

Smoked Salmon, Baby Potatoes, Green Beans, Black Olives, Egg and Tomatoes with a Honey Mustard Dressing

Orangina! I hadn't had this in years, since my holidays in France as a kid.
I found it in my local supermarket and couldn't resist seeing if I still loved it as much as I did then and I did!

Delicious Fruit Salad

Yesterday after work I went up to my college (well my old college now) because my boyfriend was recording a commentary for his latest feature film in the studio there with the three lead actors. I went along to take some photographs and say a few words on the commentary as I helped with the production of the film.

We recorded in the radio studio

Niall, Róisín and Damien

The people who go to my college have questionable taste

The actual recording studio. I love all the wooden fixtures

I can't tell you how many times I walked these corridors over the four years that I was a student here

The ladies bathroom on the fourth floor. Plenty of freaking out about assignments and girl talk was done in here

The courtyard in the centre of the building

Do you like my hair? I did it in braids for work to keep it out of my way

Many an assignment was handed in here (at the last minute)

The dreaded stores. We had some lovely stores guys and some not so lovely

The fourth floor couches where we would sit and wait for class or sometimes eat lunch

These signs are up all around the college. As you can see somebody has
drawn a smiley face on this one with permanent marker.
They are mostly used by girls to help them re-apply lip gloss

It was very strange being back as I haven't been there since last November. I loved my college experience and I wouldn't change any of it. I feel like I learned more about myself in those four years than I did about any particular subject area. I didn't have a great time in school because I felt like I was treated like a child even though I was 18 when I graduated. I liked the independence and freedom that college offered. I felt more grown up and like I was finally able to make my own decisions. It was sometimes scary but for the mostpart exciting and fulfilling. I laughed, cried, formed new friendships, learned about life and fell in love here. Towards the end of my final year I started to become stir crazy and couldn't wait for it to be over but now I'm able to look back and appreciate the time I spent there.

After recording the commentary we got lunch and hung out in Temple Bar. We wanted to spend some time with Róisín before she left for Japan today for a year! She's going to help teach Japanese school students. I'll miss her even though I've only known her since January. She's a gorgeous person.

Mocha, my favourite

Blueberry and Blackberry Yoghurt Muffin

A Viennese Chocolate thing from The Bakery in Temple Bar

After saying our goodbyes Donnacha and I went to see a film called Splice starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. I wasn't mad about it, I thought it was a bit silly in parts. I picked up some nice leather sandals on sale, they're so comfortable and were almost a third of the price!

Today was a bit of a lazy day because once again the weather was bad, so our planned picnic had to be rescheduled. Instead I got a lovely pancake brunch!

Pancakes with Maple Syrup. My mam bought me the polka dot plate

Sorry for the length of today's post! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.
How was your college experience? Did you prefer school?

I'll leave you with the song today's post title is from, it is also a scene from the film we did the commentary for. The song is written by my friend Simon of You Kiss By The Book;

Until Next Time,

Emma xxx
