We Can't Go Back Toward The Light, When You Were My Friend

Hello lovely readers! How is your weekend going so far? I had a yummy lunch the other day and I just wanted to share it with you.

Smoked Salmon, Baby Potatoes, Green Beans, Black Olives, Egg and Tomatoes with a Honey Mustard Dressing

Orangina! I hadn't had this in years, since my holidays in France as a kid.
I found it in my local supermarket and couldn't resist seeing if I still loved it as much as I did then and I did!

Delicious Fruit Salad

Yesterday after work I went up to my college (well my old college now) because my boyfriend was recording a commentary for his latest feature film in the studio there with the three lead actors. I went along to take some photographs and say a few words on the commentary as I helped with the production of the film.

We recorded in the radio studio

Niall, Róisín and Damien

The people who go to my college have questionable taste

The actual recording studio. I love all the wooden fixtures

I can't tell you how many times I walked these corridors over the four years that I was a student here

The ladies bathroom on the fourth floor. Plenty of freaking out about assignments and girl talk was done in here

The courtyard in the centre of the building

Do you like my hair? I did it in braids for work to keep it out of my way

Many an assignment was handed in here (at the last minute)

The dreaded stores. We had some lovely stores guys and some not so lovely

The fourth floor couches where we would sit and wait for class or sometimes eat lunch

These signs are up all around the college. As you can see somebody has
drawn a smiley face on this one with permanent marker.
They are mostly used by girls to help them re-apply lip gloss

It was very strange being back as I haven't been there since last November. I loved my college experience and I wouldn't change any of it. I feel like I learned more about myself in those four years than I did about any particular subject area. I didn't have a great time in school because I felt like I was treated like a child even though I was 18 when I graduated. I liked the independence and freedom that college offered. I felt more grown up and like I was finally able to make my own decisions. It was sometimes scary but for the mostpart exciting and fulfilling. I laughed, cried, formed new friendships, learned about life and fell in love here. Towards the end of my final year I started to become stir crazy and couldn't wait for it to be over but now I'm able to look back and appreciate the time I spent there.

After recording the commentary we got lunch and hung out in Temple Bar. We wanted to spend some time with Róisín before she left for Japan today for a year! She's going to help teach Japanese school students. I'll miss her even though I've only known her since January. She's a gorgeous person.

Mocha, my favourite

Blueberry and Blackberry Yoghurt Muffin

A Viennese Chocolate thing from The Bakery in Temple Bar

After saying our goodbyes Donnacha and I went to see a film called Splice starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. I wasn't mad about it, I thought it was a bit silly in parts. I picked up some nice leather sandals on sale, they're so comfortable and were almost a third of the price!

Today was a bit of a lazy day because once again the weather was bad, so our planned picnic had to be rescheduled. Instead I got a lovely pancake brunch!

Pancakes with Maple Syrup. My mam bought me the polka dot plate

Sorry for the length of today's post! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.
How was your college experience? Did you prefer school?

I'll leave you with the song today's post title is from, it is also a scene from the film we did the commentary for. The song is written by my friend Simon of You Kiss By The Book;

Until Next Time,

Emma xxx
