Dream I'm In The Saltwater

On Sunday Donnacha and I got the train to Skerries to see my family. We went for a walk around "The Head" as it's known locally, it's actually a little headland sticking out into the Irish sea. One side of Skerries has a stoney beach which is the North Beach and the other side has a big sandy beach called the South Strand. We were so lucky to get a gorgeous sunny day! It made me realise how much I took for granted living in such a beautiful place for years. The sea air is just amazing, there's nothing like it! Donnacha took some outfit photos for me along the way and I took some of the scenery which I will post later in the week.

You'll have to make do with these for now!

Dress- Marks and Spencers
Blazer- Charity Shop
Desert Boot Wedges- Clarks
'E' Necklace and Red Rose Studs- Accessorize
Sunglasses- Dunnes

It was really warm in some places but a bit chilly in the shade, although I didn't even have to wear my jacket for some of the walk! I got these boots a couple of months ago in Clarks. I wanted them for ages and though they were very expensive for my budget I just had to get them! I didn't know whether to go for the black or walnut colour, in the end I decided the black could be good for wearing at night as well as during the day and I don't actually own that many black shoes. They are so comfortable and easy to walk in, that's the main reason I bought them apart from loving the look of them. I love high shoes but I just can't wear the because of my dodgy knees but these are the perfect height and are so versatile.

Hope you're all having a great week so far! I'll leave you with some Beach House.

Black and Nude

I got my other Alexandra Grecco things in the post last week. I got The Magic Petit Puff in Black and the Medium Helena Bow in Nude. The Magic Petit Puff comes in black and champagne and the Medium Helena Bow comes in yellow, black, nude ivory and teal so far. I didn't get these for any special occasion, but now I'm thinking of wearing the bow in my hair for my sister's wedding. I've found the dress I want to wear, I'm getting it made to order by a dress maker on etsy (hopefully) and I've also found the shoes I want to wear so I can't wait to show you what they all look like! Check out Alexandra's etsy shop if you get a chance, she has some gorgeous Spring accessories at the moment!

I wanted to show you one of my favourite nail polishes at the moment. It's by a German brand called Catrice and it's called 'Clay-ton My Hero'. It's sort of a taupe/mink colour. Catrice are a great brand for inexpensive nail polishes and cosmetics in general, I haven't tried any of their make up yet but their nail lacquers are really great, the colours are amazing. I have blood red, silver and mauve colours too which I'll show you at some stage. I'm a bit obsessed with Nail Polish at the moment!

Also I died my hair again last week with L'oréal Casting Creme Gloss in Amber. I really love how the colour turned out, it's sort of an auburn colour because my hair is naturally medium brown so obviously it didn't turn out exactly Amber. You can see the colour really well in the photos above, it's a semi-permanent so it only lasts about 8 weeks, but that's as long as I care to commit to a colour right now!

Hope you're having a great weekend, Donnacha will be home soon and I can't wait to see him!

I'm on my holidays from work now which is badly needed! Donnacha is currently in Texas filming at SXSW but will be back very soon! Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and thankfully we avoided most of the craziness in Dublin. I'm not a big fan of being in the city on Paddy's day because it tends to get very rowdy and gross by the afternoon what with people drinking since the morning. Plus the streets are full of litter and smashed bottles and crushed cans, all in all you really would need to be drunk to survive Dublin on St. Patrick's day. I went in late in the afternoon with Kate and Simon to get some ingredients for dinner and to buy some wine. Simon and I made dinner for everyone and we all watched I Love You Man and Step Brothers.

Hope you've had a good week,

Emma xx

Spring Outfit Ideas- Part One

TGIF!!!

Just a quick post this evening. I've had a great week, work has been busy, I've been doing lots of unusual tasks due to our Reward Card Customer Evening and Press Day and I think it made the week go by even faster than normal. I also won 3 competitions this week. Two sets of tickets to two different film screenings and a giveaway on Vixen Vintage. I got a $40 voucher to Ms Tips, a really great vintage shop on etsy. Check out Solanah's blog and Ms Tips if you get a chance, they're both awesome! I can't wait to show you what I chose from the shop.

Apart from the cold spell this week, the weather here in Dublin has been getting increasingly warmer, which has gotten me thinking about dressing for that transitional weather between the cold and slightly less cold that is an Irish Spring. Haha!

Here are some things I would like to be wearing this Spring;

Spring Collage1

1. Daisy Print Prom Dress, £28.99- New Look
2. Tie Peter Pan Blouse, £15.99- New Look
3. Judy's Dream Skirt, $75.99- Modcloth
5. Green Print Prom Dress, £39.99- River Island
7. Faux Ostrich Lady Bag, £35- ASOS
8. Tan Triangle Lock Satchel, £32- Topshop

10. Twist Buckle Tan Leather Belt, £18- Accessorize
11. Yarra Desert Boots, £99- Clarks
12. Yellow Simple Patent Skinny Belt, £8- Accessorize

Donnacha is going to Texas next week to do some filming at SXSW. He works for an internet music show called Cock and Bull and had his flights, accommodation and food paid for for 6 days. I'm so happy for him that he gets this experience, I know it's difficult for anyone working in this industry when you're starting out because you don't usually get paid for what you do unless you are very lucky so it's great that he gets this opportunity. It's a very small operation and the producers are paying for everything out of their own pockets so I'm hoping that all the hard work pays off for them because they really deserve it!

Here's one of the performances Donnacha filmed a couple of weeks ago, hope you like it!

Film Style Inspiration- Mattie Ross (True Grit)

The idea for this film style inspiration post mostly came from my love of the hat Hailee Steinfeld wore in True Grit. I bought a fedora on ebay last year and I really love it. After watching Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire and how you weren't dressed properly back then unless you had a hat on your head, it seems strange that people don't wear hats that often nowadays. I never wore hats because I have a big head and could never find any to fit me properly, but now with online shopping I can order hats in my head size (haha!)

I suppose I was going for a Western inspired look here (maybe a little Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Heehee). I've also been wearing my hair in plaits a lot lately, now that it's long enough to do so, especially in work just to keep my hair out of my face.

True Grit is definitely my film of the year so far and I think Hailee Steinfeld is the cutest thing ever, so I wanted to emulate her character's style in the film. We took the photos in the Iveagh gardens again, but in a different part this time. Hope you like them!

I hope you've had a good week! Mine has flown by! The weather has been so lovely all week. It's still cold but the sun has been out most of the week. Work has been going well too, I've been given more responsibilities on my floor with Visual Merchandising so I'm having fun playing around with dressing mannequins and shelves and laying out the floor. It's something that I feel I'm good at and it makes the job a bit more fulfilling.

Have you got anything exciting planned for the weekend?
