One of my "New Years Resolutions" was to cook more home-made meals. I got the Sophie Dahl cookbook from my aunts for Christmas and I've already made two recipes from it. Last night I cooked a roast dinner for Donnacha, Kate, Eric and I incorporating one of the recipes. I'm enjoying cooking a lot more than I thought I would. I haven't cooked a whole lot in the past, or should I say I haven't experimented really. I like to cook and I'm up for trying most foods (I still hate peas), but I find it hard to get motivated into doing it sometimes because of the expense of buying ingredients and because Donnacha is such a picky eater I always ending up just making the food for myself and having the leftovers (which there is always loads of because there are very few meals for one cookbooks out there) for lunch the following day.

I hope to find recipes I can adjust and perfect to my taste and hopefully if I feel happy with the results I'll share them here.

How was your weekend? I'm really getting into my Tumblr, it's so fun! Also don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already and to those of you who have I really really enjoyed reading your comments! Some of them have been so funny, it's lovely to get to know you all a bit better!

I love Tom Smith's voice;

  1. I enjoyed that song, Emma. He certainly does have a rich, pure voice and the guitars sparkle. If you enjoy cooking, then cook. Experimenting and creating your own versions of recipes can be loads of fun. Your color coordinated wardrobe is stunning, dear friend!

  2. Your outfit looks lovely on you. I love all the colors with your eyes - very pretty. Also your nails are awesome :] I need to work on cooking more home made meals as well. But it is tough though when you don't have a lot of people to cook for.

  3. you look beautiful but then you always do. Have you ever tried the website allrecipes.com? I'm always on there getting new recipes and you can cut down the serving sizes too.

    In other news, I am SO stoked you got my Narnia inspiration for my pics. I wasnt sure if it was really coming through but then you pointed it out and made me so happy. Thats why you're the best.

  7. So apparently everything cool happens in Ireland like meeting Felicity Jones and hanging out on the set of Northhanger Abbey. Man, I need to move!

  8. As a picker eater myself, I understand the difficulty in preparing meals that a picky eater will like. My ex used to hate cooking for the two of us, but we found that if we picked out recipes together I'd be more invested and willing to try things out (and I could also give input that if there was something that I absolutely hated we could find an acceptable substitute). And occasionally I would try something new and like it. I don't know if that would work for you, but I figured I might as well mention it.

  15. these colors look great on you..and you have stunning eyes!.. I don't usually go for new year resolutions 'cause I never accomplish them anyway but the cooking thing sounds fun to you.. I can't cook at all.. have you watched a film with meryl streep called Jules and Julia?..it's about a girl that cooks different recipes everyday and starts a blog about it.. I think you might enjoy it...
    take care!
