Lime Crime Lipsticks

I mentioned in this post that I had recently purchased some Lime Crime Lipsticks. Well, here they are in all their purple unicorn glory!

I wanted to try these for the longest time. First they were available in Ireland, then when I had made up my mind to get one, they were no longer available here. As far as I have been able to find out, there are no Irish stockists of these lipsticks or of Lime Crime in general, which is such a pity because I know a lot of people don't like to buy cosmetics online until they have tried them out in person.

I knew I wanted to try out one of the shades and I was torn between these three. Then back in December I saw on the Lime Crime website that they were doing a trio set called Creme Burlesque with these three shades in it for only $37.99 plus $10.95 for international shipping. I couldn't resist considering the set just happened to have the three shades I wanted to try. So for the three lipsticks plus shipping I paid about €35, which was such a bargain considering they are $15.99 each.

Now let's get down to it, the actual lipsticks themselves come in the most pretty packaging I've ever seen. Bright purple with a holographic unicorn, you definitely won't lose these in your make up bag. I have to say, I was totally taken in by the packaging, Lime Crime seems to be a company as concerned with what's inside the packaging as the packaging itself. I'm not usually one to go for flashy packaging but you have to admit these lipstick casings are pretty amazing, it really brings out the little girl in me. What I really like is the element of fun that this brand brings to the cosmetics industry and the selection of shades of lipstick really emphasises that fun factor.

The lipsticks themselves are incredibly pigmented and long lasting. They have a smooth, creamy texture and are very comfortable to wear. The only negative thing I can say about them is that the do stain the lips but I don't personally have a problem with that.

As you can see from the base of the tubes above, they are also vegan and do not test on animals which is another reason I am happy to support this company.

I am dying to try out their Velvetines and Carousel Glosses now, the colours are so stunning!

What do you think? Would you like to try out this fun-loving brand or is it too much colour for you?

  1. All three shades look fabulous on you, dear Emma! It amazes me how much creativity now goes into the packaging and naming of products like these as well as all the different fragrances and textures available. Decades ago there were few choices in lip products beyond red and pink. Ice cream flavors included vanilla, chocolate and strawberry and you drank your coffee black or with cream and/or sugar. How the world has changed! I hope you are doing well, my dear friend. Take care!

    1. You're right Tom, and it still amazes me that companies keep releasing new products, colours, textures and advances in what the product can do. It just goes to show how much we don't know yet!

About velvetines, they're great, except for the fact that you must really be extra careful when putting it on nicely or else you'll be stained!
    gorgeous lips, as usual! ;-)

  6. All three look rich and lustrous on you, but my favourite is Centrifuchsia. I have Airborne Unicorn - it's a bit "out there" but a lot of fun.
