Accents

Hello lovelies!

Did you all have a nice weekend? I was back in work today after my week off and as you all know it's difficult to go back to work/ school/ college after having some time off, but it does make me really appreciate my time off and I'm already planning what I'm going to do for my next week off. I had a really nice and relaxing week which included watching films, going for lunches and coffees, meeting friends, staying up very late and sleeping in.

I wanted to share with you some photos I took during one of my lunch/coffee days with Donnacha and our friends Niall and Emma.

Wed 25 1

I got a cheeseburger, yummy salad and fresh orange juice

Wed 25 2

Niall got a tandoori chicken sambo and sweet potato soup

Wed 25 3

My usual, a mocha

Wed 25 6

Pistachio and Chocolate Orange macaroons

Wed 25 7

Wed 25 8

Wed 25 9

Wed 25 10

Wed 25 11

We went to Busyfeet and Coco for lunch and then to a new coffee lounge called Accents. What sets it apart from other coffee places is that it stays open late every night and it also has a gorgeous lounge in the basement with bean bags and comfy leather sofas. It's a nice change from the over-crowded, uncomfortable coffee shop chains.

I wanted to thank you all for your lovely comments and well-wishes for my anniversary with Donnacha and my last Film Style post, I think I replied to everyone individually, but I wanted to say here how much I appreciate each and every one of you who take the time to say something nice to someone who you've never even met. I truly appreciate the lovely thoughts and comments you leave for me and it's my relationships with the people I've met through blogging that keep me excited about it every day!

Here's hoping you all have a lovely week!

Film Style Inspiration- West Side Story

I honestly didn't think I would get to take my film inspiration photos this month. The May weather has been just terrible here. It's been so so windy, cloudy, rainy and cold! I can't believe the difference in the weather compared to April which was glorious. Hopefully June will be better!

So this month's film style inspiration is from one of my favourite musicals West Side Story. I can't remember exactly when I first saw it and I don't think I've actually seen it that many times but I grew up listening to the soundtrack on cassette tape as my parents were huge fans and always had it playing in the house when we were kids. More recently after finishing Twin Peaks I found out that Tony was played by Richard Beymer aka Benjamin Horne from Twin Peaks and Russ Tamblyn aka Dr. Jacoby was one of the Jets. If you haven't seen the film chances are you know at least one of the songs from the soundtrack. It's definitely one of my favourite film soundtracks, Leonard Bernstein is a genius in my opinion!

Since I got this dress in work for my uniform it has reminded me of West Side Story even though the actual film costumes are colourful, full dresses with circle skirts but it has that Latin-America feel to it so it became the foundation for a very loose interpretation of a West Side Story costume. Hopefully you'll get what I was going for. Unfortunately it was very cold and windy (as well as sunny) on the day we took these photos so I had to wear tights and different shoes than I had intended to wear.

We took these photos in Dublin Castle, I wanted a more urban feel to them like the set of the rooftop in the scene where they sing America, but this poor man's rooftop will have to do!

La Vie en Rose

This past Monday was mine and Donnacha's five year anniversary. I honestly can't believe it's been five years, how time has flown by!

I can't remember if I have shared the story of how we met, so I'll just tell you anyway. We met on September 14th 2005, our first day of college. He was one of the first people I spoke to in our class. We became good friends, but he had a girlfriend at the time so that's all we were until he told me that he liked me less than a month after he and his girlfriend broke up the following April. I was hesitant to start anything thinking that it would be a rebound and that it would be very awkward in college if things didn't work out. However I just grew to like him more and more through our friendship and eventually we kissed one evening at a friend's house. Soon after that we began "dating" and gradually the like turned into love....

Five years later I love him more every day. He makes me laugh, he comforts me when I'm sad, he is kind and generous and caring and unlike me he always sees the good in everything and everyone. He is my best friend and I love him with all of my heart.

We had a lovely meal together on Monday evening, here are some photos from the evening;

The post title comes from the name of one of my favourite love songs and I think the lyrics are so true, when you're in love you really do see the world with a rose- tint (not always, and sometimes it's not a good thing, but it does happen and it's good to embrace it while it's there)

For the person in your life that you love, whoever they are...

I watched 500 Days of Summer again and didn't like it as much this time :(

So that was my Saturday. What did you do? Today I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides with my mam and my brother. It was good, but nowhere near as good as the first one.

I shall leave you with one of the great songs from the soundtrack to 500 Days of Summer;

I'm thinking about wearing this for Kate's wedding at the back of my hair like in the fourth photograph. It matches the shoes I got for the wedding perfectly. Who knows, I may change my mind before then, but we booked our flights during the week so it makes it more real! I'm so excited! Kate has her dress picked out and is having it custom made by a seller she found on etsy. It's so gorgeous, but she'll look beautiful no matter what she wears!

The weather is still horrible and the Queen was here all week so between the two we didn't get to take photos because everywhere was closed off. Hopefully it will be nice during my week off.

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far, more from me tomorrow after I go and see Pirates of the Caribbean !

Warpaint Take Two

Hey lovelies! I just want to begin this post by thanking you all so much for your kind and encouraging comments from last weeks post. Your words gave me a lot of comfort during my difficult week and thankfully things are much better this week. I am still uneasy about the robbery though, it seems as if whoever broke in had gotten into the building before and knocked on the doors to see if anyone was in, but just happened to get lucky this time. Our building is a lot safer now though so that helps.

The weather in Ireland this past two weeks or so has been nasty. It's been raining, thunderstorms, cold, so so so windy and cloudy so my planned outfit posts will be postponed until I see a bit of sun again. Until then I have some photos to show you from the Warpaint gig we went to on Sunday night. Donnacha took some videos too which you can see below. The gig was amazing! They played a much larger venue than when I saw them in October but it was great to hear the album now that I know it really well and love it and it's great to see an all female band who are so talented at playing their instruments and have such an individual sound.

The support was by Connan Mockasin who I really enjoyed, that's them below.
