Gold Dust Woman

I can't believe I haven't posted since Wednesday! I just haven't had the chance until this afternoon. I found out on Friday that my shift at work will be changing from next week and I'll now be working a later shift every day. At first I was a bit taken aback because I hadn't been consulted about it until Friday. However after thinking about it for a while I think it will be a nice change in my routine. I've been working the same shift for the past 15 months so it'll be a chance to try something different and I'll get an extra hour and a half in bed in the mornings! On Friday evening I went out with some of the girls from work to celebrate payday. We got some food and some delicious cocktails including prosecco with raspberry and whiskey sour, yum!

Here are some more photos from the new camera, we messed around with some filters the other night and the results were awesome, but I want to take some proper photos with the filters to show you.

Myself completely make-upless staring at the computer screen

And I got to take some outfit photos yesterday before going to see Dinner for Schmucks (very weird film, but quite funny). Here they are;

I really think the red wall in the background looks like the sky when you glimpse at it

The Whistle of Love necklace from Jewel Me Pretty. I ordered another adorable necklace from the shop on Thursday. It' so so cute!

I kinda feel like Blossom with my hat on, but that's ok because she's awesome!

I got this satchel in the River Island men's section. It was nicer and less expensive than the women's ones. My mam told me today that it's exactly like the one she had on her first day of school! The one I got is sold out on the website now, I wanted the yellow one but they didn't have it in the shop

A side view of the bow on my hat. The guy said he can make them in any colour felt with any colour ribbon!

I'm wearing a very plain black dress, tights, grey socks, River Island two tone brogues and a houndstooth cardigan I got in work last year.

My lipstick is Revlon Really Red, in case you were wondering

Today I had lunch with my mam, dad and brother. Then they drove me out to the Ultimate Ladies Day Out in the RDS in Dublin. I only went in for about half an hour to get some cheap make up, Holly gave me her pass as she was working at it on Friday and Saturday so I didn't have to pay in! I got some Bourjois and Benefit make up because they had a promotion on where you could get 5 items for €10. A lot of it was the same stuff, but I got some nice colours that I know I'll use.

So how was your weekend? Did you do anything nice?

I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, I grew up listening to them because my parents were always playing their music. I finally got to see them live last year and it was amazing!

Here's one of my favourite songs;

I Guess I've Always Been A Delicate (wo)Man

This is what I had for lunch yesterday. I love tomatoes and cheese and bread and parma ham!

Foccacia bread with cherry tomatoes

Italian parma ham

Sun blushed tomato and mozzarella

My boyfriend bought a new camera, the Panasonic GH1. He had been researching different cameras for a few weeks and it was between this and the Canon 550D. He wanted it mainly for filming, not really for stills (I'm probably going to be stealing it a lot for stills- heehee!). So he got it in the post the other day and I have to say after just a short time using it, I think I'm in love! I want to familiarise myself with all of the functions etc. as soon as possible, but already it takes the most beautiful photographs! It's great because I've been wanting to buy a more professional camera for a while but sadly didn't have the will power to save for it so this is sort of the best of both worlds because I get to borrow it (when he isn't using it) and have my own personal tutor to learn from (he's better with technology than me, surprise surprise!). So we took some pictures today when we went to lunch with our friends and here are the results;

Damien was excited to try on my hat

Dave and Sam

Oreo Milkshake

So what do you think? I can't wait to play around with it a bit more!

I saw the latest edition of GQ UK last week with Christina Hendricks on the cover. I've been a big fan of hers ever since she had a guest spot in a few episodes of ER. I think if I could look like anyone in the world it would be her, she's just so gorgeous. I'm loving the retro styling of the shoot, especially the beautiful long red hair. I haven't watched Mad Men yet as I already watch too many shows, but as soon as I finish something I'll be starting it!

The week has been flying by so far! How is your week going? Payday on Friday! and then only 3 weeks until I'm off work again for a week!

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

Oh Mother Of Pearl I Wouldn't Trade You For Another Girl

I got my hat!!!

It was raining and I couldn't do a proper outfit shoot so I just took a quick photo in the apartment to show my mam because she was dying to see it.

Also, the necklace I won from Jewel Me Pretty on Etsy arrived today. I took some photos of the pretty packaging to show you because it was so nice!

I saw this written on the envelope and I just thought it was such a lovely touch

How adorable is the little tag? The whistle actually works! I love it so much. I'll definitely be buying something else from the shop

Thanks for all your lovely comments recently! How was your weekend?

I'm giving you some Roxy Music. I've been listening to them a lot lately because they're playing an Irish music festival called Electric Picnic and I can't afford to go so I'm a bit sad that I don't get to see them live, but there's always next time!

Have a great evening,

Sound and Vision

Yesterday Donnacha and I got up at 6.15am! Gah! It wasn't very nice, especially since I couldn't get to sleep for ages the previous night. It honestly felt like the middle of the night when my alarm went off! Having said that, there is something exciting about being up so early and getting ready for your day when everyone else is fast asleep. We were collected at 7.15 and driven out to our location in Rathmichael, near Shankhill. The house we were using as a location was absolutely beautiful, but even better were the surroundings which were just stunning! The lady who lives there was generous enough to let us use her entire house for the weekend to film inside and on the grounds.

I was there just to generally help out but I ended up doing clapperboard and camera assistant. It was really great to be back working on a film again. After 4 years of college, that was the one thing that I really did enjoy for the mostpart. The camaraderie of working together as a team to make something you can be proud of. It was also nice to work with people I've worked with before (and some I haven't). The actors were lovely too. The guy who wrote the script was acting in it and the main female character was played by an actress who worked on the Irish soap Fair City for years. She was so nice and I had a great chat with her once she had wrapped for the day.

The film is a twenty minute short about a middle aged man who is being emotionally and sometimes physically and verbally abused by his wife. It was quite difficult to watch some of the scenes because the actors were so convincing it was as if we were voyeurs in the couple's house. Donnacha was Director of Photography on the film and he was very happy with how it looked, so I'm very excited to see the final piece. They are filming tomorrow and next weekend too, so hopefully I'll get to help out one of the days next week. I managed to take some photographs on our down time of the location, the garden and of some of the scenes. Let me know what you think!

The view from the patio at 8am yesterday morning. That's actually the sea just above the line of the trees!

A statue that was in the garden

I don't know what these flowers are called but the bees just love them!

I thought this was really unusual, I quite like it!

There was some strange art around the house

The beautiful and bright living room

You could see some seals out in the sea through the telescope in the living room

All of the boys were very impressed with the billiard room/library/study. (I was too!)

I love unusual chess boards

The pieces were made from hand-carved wood!

Donnacha making a cowboy hat out of the reflector (and a silly face)

An old map of Dublin city from the 1800s

A huge mirror in the entrance hallway of the house

The lighting set up

Heehee!

A chandelier in the hallway

Note the paw prints from the house kitten on the side of this doll's house

Inside the doll's house. I would have loved this when I was a kid (I kinda still would)

It started to rain heavily. Check out the pool! It's very rare that people have pools in Ireland

How adorable is this billiard room in the doll's house!

Is it a mini chest of dresser or giant Roald Dahl book?

I got to write with chalk all day. It was like being back at school

There was even a tennis/basketball court!

This cloud looked amazing, it was so fluffy!

The front of the house including the hot tub!

What do you think of the special effects make-up?

Blood!

The two main actors Gerry and Úna

Most of the crew; clockwise from left- Donnacha, Lorraine, Neasa, Brendan, Anthony and Cathal

What I wore, a big ring and a leopard print scarf!

My trusty New Balance runners that I've had for years. A necessity when you're on your feet on film set all day

Sorry for all the photos, I just wanted to show you the kinds of things I did in college. It's always a different experience because obviously all the films are different, but I have to say I really enjoyed yesterday's shoot. It was one of the better ones I've been on!

How is your weekend going so far? I'm almost finished my holidays so I'm going to try to enjoy every last minute of it! It's been such a fun week! I'm going to collect my birthday hat tomorrow, I'm so excited!

Here's some Bowie!
