I've mentioned Makeup Artist Jo Baker here before as I’ve admired her work for years. She has a lot of celebrity clients including Lucy Boynton, Olivia Wilde, Natasha Lyonne and many more. Last week she posted a look she had done on Natasha Lyonne for a pre-Golden Globes party. You can see the video here. I was immediately obsessed and I knew I'd have to try to recreate it. After a difficult end to last year, struggling with my mental health and finally asking for help after a bit of a breakdown, my creative juices had not been flowing. I have been wearing quite minimal, pared-back makeup as I haven't had that creative spark for a couple of months. When I saw this look I was itching to take out my products to see if I had similar shades to try it out myself. The only product that Jo mentioned using was Violette_FR Yeux Paint in the shade Scarabée d'Or which is a shade I have lusted after since it was released. I bought the Lisa Eldridge Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow in the shade Titania when it was released at the end of 2022 and while it's not exact, they are quite similar. Scarabée d'Or is a green-gold whereas Titania is more of an antique gold. I thought Titania would be the perfect product for this look as I find the Liquid Lurex formula so easy to use (you can read my review here).

Last week I saw another makeup look (watch it here) that I adored which was by Donni Davy on Dylan Mulvaney for the Golden Globes. It was a cool pink sparkly eye using Donni's Half Magic products all of which I happened to have in my collection. She layered them in a way that I thought would be the perfect compliment to the gold for the recreation of the Jo Baker look. She used the Chromaddiction Matte in the shade Wild Caught which is a liquid eyeshadow in a salmon pink shade. Then she patted on the powder eyeshadow in the shade Pretty Robot which is an iridescent lilac. Finally, she added the Glitterpuck Pressed Fairy Dust in the shade Dopamine Sparkle on top. I decided to use this exact combination but in a more graphic shape and it worked really well. I also added a tiny bit of the Glitterpill liner in the shade Money Plz on the lower inner lash line as I thought it would make the gold pop a bit more. I love the Half Magic products and I've used them over and over as they're so easy to use and you can create a quick, fun look so easily. You can read my full review of the brand here

The main focus of the look was the eyes so I wanted a muted, neutral lip colour and Lisa Eldridge Velvet Fawn is such a great shade to pair with stronger eye looks. I sculpted my lips with two different lip liners from NYX (which I have linked to below) as Natasha's lips in the original look were softly defined but quite muted in colour. I also used Velvet Fawn on my cheeks as a blush mixed with the Elevated Glow Highlighter in Pink Moon. I wanted something muted on the cheeks too and I figured that matching lips and cheeks would be a good way to tie the look together.

For my complexion, I used some products I have been trying out over the past month or so. I used the Heimish Artless Glow Tinted Sunscreen SPF50+ first as it adds sun protection, hydration and radiance all in one. I was sent this product from Stylevana along with some other K-Beauty products and I've been loving it, particularly for my Winter skin. You can see me applying it here. I used a touch of the YSL Beauty Touche Éclat Blur Primer just in the centre of my face and I finished with the new Prada Beauty Reveal Skin Optimizing Foundation. I received this in a press drop in the middle of December after being invited into the new Prada Beauty counter in Brown Thomas. I had heard glowing reviews of the foundation so I was excited to try it myself. I have been wearing it almost non-stop for the past month save for a few days when I wore other foundations. I keep wanting to use this because it makes my skin look great. I don't want to write too much about it yet because I plan on writing a full review but it's a medium coverage, long-wearing foundation with a soft matte finish. There are 33 shades and I was matched to shade LC5 which is as close as I could ever get to an exact match. I would have probably bought LN5 if I had ordered online so I'm glad I got shade matched at the counter. I have a neutral skin tone but the LN5 shade was a touch too yellow for me so if you can I'd recommend trying to get matched in person. If there's anything else you'd like to know about the foundation just send me a DM on Instagram but in the meantime, I'll be working on the full review. Hopefully, you can see from the photos below just how natural but beautiful it looks on the skin. I'm so impressed!

I took photos in natural daylight, both direct and indirect sunlight so hopefully you can see how the makeup really looks. I filmed the makeup application for Instagram which you can see here and I've also uploaded it to YouTube which you can see below.
