I've been wanting to do a Ballerina Pink makeup look for a long time. I wanted to base it on the Ballerina in the music video for George Harrison's cover of Got My Mind Set On You from 1987. My dad had it recorded on a VHS when we were kids and we'd watch it over and over. I made a video for Instagram about the inspiration behind this look if you're interested in watching it. I have also wanted to try Douyin makeup so I decided to add some elements of that including aegyo-sal (baby eye fat), a technique where you contour under your eyes to make them seem more youthful, and doll-like. There is usually a thin liquid liner and some glitter as well as prominent blush and plump, glossy lips. I wanted the look to be quite fresh with soft cool tones pinks and glitter to accentuate my eyes. I’ve never worn a monochromatic cool pink look before so it was really fun to try.

I started with the Prada Reveal Foundation as it has more of a soft matte finish and seeing as many of the elements would involve glowy, glitter and glossy textures, I thought a slightly more matte base would be better for balance. It's also an excellent shade match for when I wear my hair up. I used two of the Danessa Myricks Colorfix Mattes, Latte and Lift, mixed together to make the perfect cool-toned ballerina pink as my eye base. Then I applied some shades from the Unleashia Glitterpedia Palette in All of the Lavender and Fog as it has some beautiful soft shades and iridescent glitters. I had to add some of the Half Magic Glitterpuck on top as it's such a beautiful wet-look pink glitter topper. I applied a thin line of the Surratt Auto-Graphique Liner just on the outer half of my upper eyelid and lined my upper waterline to give the appearance of a fuller lash line. I used the Sweed Satin Kohl Eye Pencil in the shade Bright on my waterline for some extra brightness and finished the eyes with some glitter on my inner corner, a tiny Half Magic Face Pearl on my outer corner and two coats of the incredible Sweed Pro Lash Lift Mascara in Dark Brown which I've been absolutely loving.

I used several shades on my cheeks to achieve this cool pink blush. Firstly, I used the shades XOXO and Tease from the Danessa Myricks Dewy Cheek and Lip Palette, then Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade Encourage, some of the Colorfix concoction I used on my eyes and finally the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush. I used the KJH.Brand Hyper Shine High Lite Kit in Lite Pink to add some glow to my cheekbones and a few other areas for that ethereal look.

I finished the look using the double gloss trend I saw recently on the Fenty Beauty Instagram account. I used the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Ribbon and followed it with the Lancôme Juicy Tubes in the shade Miracle as it's that perfect Y2K sparkly pink gloss.

I loved creating and wearing this look as it's something I haven't tried before. It feels like the perfect makeup look for Spring as it's so fresh and radiant and a total juxtaposition from the deeper, darker shades we can gravitate towards in the Winter. It's a look that anyone can wear, even if you're not used to wearing pink, you can choose a shade of pink that works for your skin tone. For some people, it may be a warmer pink or something fuchsia or magenta. It's the monochromatic element that I find makes it easier to wear as it's much more cohesive. Would you wear this look?
