It's been a while since I've written a regular, non-empties blog post. I decided to write this one after going to the trouble of taking photos of this makeup look on my DSLR camera. I usually take my makeup photos on the Instagram camera as it's better than the one in my camera app but for some reason the quality is terrible at the moment. Obviously the quality from my DSLR is much better but it's a bit of a faff to take it out and shoot photos and transfer them onto my laptop, upload to my photo storage account and then download onto my phone. The Canon DLSR camera I have is quite old and doesn't have bluetooth so I have to get the photos off it the old fashioned way and when your time is limited it's much easier to just take photos on your phone. However, it's not just the quality that is an issue with phone images, I also think it distorts your perception of how you look because of the iPhone lens.
I wasn't planning on taking photos of this look as I didn't film the application, I was just playing around with my new Samplr Beauty products and I loved how it turned out so I thought I would take some photos of it.
To being with, I applied the TirTir Mask Fit Aura Cushion Foundation. I bought the small size of this product when I placed a K-Beauty order back in July. I tried some sample sachets of the original red one last year and while I liked the formula, the coverage was a bit more than I usually like to wear. This silver Aura version is the lightest coverage out of the four formulas, it's also the most hydrating and the most glowy finish. However it also has the least wear time. I don't mind that as I don't need my foundation to be very long lasting. I prefer a lighter, glowier finish. There are 20 shades in this one, 40 in the original red version, 30 in the orange one and 20 in the pink one. They have expanded their shade range quite a bit in recent years and other Korean brands have started doing the same thing which is great to see as I really love the finish of cushion foundations and it's always great when products are accessible to more people.
I haven't used it enough to be confident with my opinion on it but looking back at these photos I love how my complexion looks and it's the ideal coverage and finish for me. I'll keep testing it and report back. The main focus of this look is the eyes so I wanted to keep everything else quite fresh.
I wanted to do this eye look so I could properly test out some of the Samplr Beauty eyeshadows. Samplr Beauty is a recently launched brand and I discovered it for the first time through Content Creator @imonaugust. They are the Artistry Director for the brand and if you've seen their content, you'll know that they're the ideal person for that job. They create such inspirational makeup looks and I love watching their videos. So when they mentioned Samplr Beauty I was immediately intrigued. Samplr products come straight from the lab so they are delivering products that are high quality at more affordable prices. The 25 pan palettes are €13.78/£12, they also have an empty 8 pan-size magnetic palette and a tool so that you can take the pans out of the bigger palette and make your own colour story. I love the playfulness of this brand and the ability to move everything around and rearrange it however you like. The shades I used for this look are from the #03 Neon Grunge palette. I also bought the #02 Mood Palette and they have two other palettes. You can watch my swatch video here.
I started by using a metallic purple on my inner and outer eyelid. I then added the matte periwinkle blue in the blank space in between the metallic purple. I applied the matte lavender to blend the metallic purple into the periwinkle blue. I used one of the duochrome single shades from the bellabeautébar X Noopur Makeup collaboration over the metallic purple on my inner corner to add a bit more sparkle and dimension. I used the NARS eyeshadow primer as a base as I have oily eyelids and I need a primer to stop the oils coming through and making eyeshadow crease. I found that both of the Samplr formulas had great payoff and applied and blended so easily. I'm really excited to play around with more fo the shades and experiment with creating my own little palettes. I think this is such a great brand for anyone who wants to play with colour without spending lots of money. The quality for the price is excellent and I'm excited to see what they do next. If you don't yet follow August, I highly encourage you to check out their work.
The blush I used for this look is from a Chinese brand AZTK. It's called the Jello Colour Liquid Blush and comes in 7 shades. It has quite a light, watery texture and it blends in super easily, the only issue is that it's a very pale shade as are the other shades so I don't think it would work on anyone with a skin tone much deeper than mine. I love the formula and sponge applicator of this product, I just wish it came in more of a variety of shades and depths.
The last things I wanted to mention are the lip products. I was recently sent the new KJH.Brand Precision Sculpture Stylos. I've been sick for the past week so I haven't been wearing makeup but I've managed to try these out a few times now and I love this formula. I've tried a few products along the same lines as these where it's a little bit wider than a traditional lip liner size and it's more about sculpting and contouring than it is about achieving a sharp defined line. It gives lips soft definition which is exactly what I like when using a lip liner. I used the two lightest shades, Etch and Chisel so give my lips some soft contouring. I used Etch all over my lip line and then Chisel in the centre on the top and bottom and gently blended it out using a small fluffy brush. You can also use this product on cheeks, lips and brows. I want to film a video using these pencils all over my face so I can demonstrate their versatility. I'm excited to experiment more with these stylos.

I loved how this look turned out, sometimes the best ones are the ones you don't plan at all, they just come from play time. It was a good way to test out the Samplr formulas and how they perform. I'm very impressed so far and I think this is such a fun and innovative brand. It's nice to be able to recommend a brand that is a bit more affordable and encourages you to play with various colour combinations. The images from August are so inspirational, I highly recommend you checking out their work.
I'm so excited to play with these palettes and make up my own mini palettes and colour combinations.
