Shooting From The Hip About Our Faith And Love

Last Sunday we wandered around town looking for somewhere to eat. On the way we took some outfit shots at the Fruit and Vegetable market on Halston street. I've always loved this building and was lucky enough to film inside it a few years ago. Since then I've wanted to use it as the backdrop for some outfit photos.

In my last outfit post I mentioned that we shot the photos in Dun Laoghaire. While we were there we went into a few of the charity shops which I've usually found to be some of the better ones in Dublin.  I actually bought this coat in a charity shop while we were there, I loved the colour despite the fact that I never wear yellow but I just loved the idea of a yellow trench coat for Spring. There's no label apart from a care label that says it was made in South Korea, I'm guessing it's from the eighties but I'm not an expert on these things so I can't sure. After getting it dry cleaned it ended up costing me around €25 which isn't bad for a Spring coat. I've had so many compliments on it since I got it and it reminds me that charity shops can be amazing for finding one of a kind pieces that you won't see anyone else wearing.

Who knew that the choker trend would stick around for so long! I got one last year that's velvet with a small gem in the middle and I love it but I wanted a plain black one that I could wear with anything. I saw a 2-pack in Zara a few weeks ago, they're both suede and the other one has little diamante flowers on it (which sounds horrible but it's actually really nice on).

I got this camera bag on eBay after a long search for something that would protect my camera but still look  like it's part of an outfit when I bring it out with me. I didn't want something that would be an obvious camera bag and this was the perfect solution.

Have you had any amazing charity shop finds? Are there any colours that you never wear?

Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair 17/04/11

Last Sunday I went out to the Vintage Fair in Dun Laoghaire for the second time with Donnacha, my mam and my brother. The boys wandered around the pier in Dun Laoghaire while my mam and I explored the fair. I was lucky enough to win two complimentary passes in a competition on the Vintage Ireland Facebook page ( thank you once again), so I went along even though I couldn't really afford to buy anything (which I did anyway). We got there just in time for the best dressed competition in which a lot of beautifully dresses ladies won some lovely prizes (including a trip to the next Vintage Fair in Galway and vintage goodie bags). It made me definitely want to make more of an effort the next time I go, it's such a great excuse to just get super dressed up in all my vintage stuff and not get stared at (which I hate) or at least get stared at for a good reason.

Please excuse the angle of the photos, I couldn't really move from where I was, but you get the idea of most of the outfits!

I really wanted to get this headpiece for a wedding I'm going to this Summer but it was rather pricey so I'm going to look for a replica

VF3

This girl won one of the best dressed prizes, I'm not sure what age she was but it's really great to see someone so young embracing vintage style!

This lady won a prize too

This lady won first prize, her outfit was a mixture of her mother's and grandmother's clothes and other vintage pieces, I thought the binoculars were a nice touch!

This outfit was definitely my favourite, it's just so colourful and the girl's hair and make-up were immaculate up close!

VF12

This lady's hair was amazing!

VF14

How awesome is this guy's outfit? He won best dressed male. The guys really made an effort too which was great to see

VF15

This was another favourite of mine, she had pearl bows on the back of the ankles of her tights!

VF16

The button's on this guys shirt were tiny guitars!

VF17

I fell in love with this Wedding dress! It's so beautiful!

Finally, my only purchase of the day. I wanted to get one of these the last time and I didn't so I made sure to get one this time. I'm not sure how I'll wear it yet but I'm hoping to show it off properly soon!

Do you like my key necklace? It's made it with one of the keys I got from Creative Elements on Etsy.

So which outfit would you have picked as the winner? There were so many other impeccably dressed women and men there, but I think a lot of them were too shy to enter, that's probably an Irish thing, Irish people generally don't like standing out too much.

Hope you're having a great weekend! We're in Donnacha's parent's house for Easter. Enjoy your chocolate eggs! (if you take part in the tradition)

Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair 10/10/10

Okay, so you'll have to bear with me here, I have a lot of photos to get through from the Fair yesterday. Here they are;

My Beautiful Sister Kate

This car was from 1938!

My mam loved this bag, it was in such great condition

I squeezed in with the other photographers to take pictures of the beautiful ladies in the fashion show. This woman had the most beautiful hair!

I love this dress! It was so floaty. This model really reminded me of Casey

I loved this model's red hair, it was done up beautifully in curls

There was so many gorgeous vintage leather bags from all different eras

My granny was loving all the fur coats. She said she would give me her faux beaver fur coat as seen on me here. I'm so excited, I wanted it for ages. She has a real mink one too, but I don't think I'd be up for that

Cute!

My mam kept putting hats on my head a
nd saying "oh that's gorgeous!". Heehee!
I have to admit I really liked these ones!

My mam started trying to sell hats to women who were trying them on. She's so funny!

There were medals from WWI!

The dancers were amazing!

These are minks according to my granny. So creepy!

An original Grease poster

The lovely gazebo again. Remember this from my birthday post?

You can sort of see my new hair colour here. It' a bit darker than my own hair colour and reddish too. What do you think?

Kate and Eric

If you managed to scroll down the long post to here, thank you! I hope these photos give you an idea of what the Fair was like. It was so much fun, even though I couldn't afford to buy anything, it was just lovely to see loads of girls dressed up in their vintage gear and talk to the ladies running the stalls and see so much fashion history. I can't wait til the next one, I'll have to keep some money aside for it.

I have another week off work in 5 and a half weeks so I have that to look forward to. Work is a bit sad at the moment because four girls have just handed in their notice so that's more people gone! But most of them have full time jobs now so it's great for them!

Hope you had a great weekend! Did you do anything fun?

Goodnight,
