Schuh Spring/Summer 2014

Last weekend I attended the Schuh SS'14 Press Day to take a look at what they have on offer for the coming season.

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was the amount of beautiful colour, print and texture and some incredible statement heels. Nude, yellow, coral, pink and cobalt blue seemed to be the biggest colours.

There was also a lot of metallic going on with chains, zip details, gold hardware and buckles.  It was great to see a heel height for everyone as I tend to stay well away from very high shoes, although I can appreciate how gorgeous they are at 5'9" I'm already tall enough and my feet plus high heels do not go well together.

There were some beautiful lower court shoes as well as a lot of block heels, including an incredible pair with a lucite heel which I absolutely loved.

There were some amazing flats and sandals too including printed canvas shoes from Bucketfeet, metallic brogues from Red or Dead, black and white Schuh own brand sandals and the old reliable tan which is my go to colour for summer sandals.

I had my nails done with NCLA nail wraps in this amazing print by the lovely Pamela Laird. Thanks so much to Dom and Lucy from Schuh for a lovely afternoon, it was so much fun. I'm excited to take off my winter boots and get shopping for sandals. Although not yet because it's still freezing!

What was you favourite pair?

The Lipstick Tag

I was tagged to do this post by the lovely Sleep and Water. I don't usually do these kinds of things but since it was all about one of my favourite beauty products, I couldn't resist!

RSP6

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

You know it's bad when you have to go and count them. I have 42 of what I would consider lipsticks which includes liquid lipsticks but not balms, butters, stains or glosses.

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?

The first ever lipstick I owned was this crazy frosted blue colour that I think was from Miss Selfridge. My friend gave it to me when I was maybe 10/11. Very Joey from Friends. The first lipstick I bought myself was probably Rimmel Heartbreaker or Revlon Really Red, I'm not sure which was first. I was a gloss girl up to that point.

ELVC2

3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?

Definitely Revlon for the more inexpensive lipsticks and Estée Lauder for the higher end ones.

  4. What is your most worn lipstick?

MAC Russian Red or Revlon Really Red.

MRR3

5. What is your favourite finish?

I definitely tend to prefer Mattes but mostly because they last longer and are less prone to bleeding, smudging and getting all over my teeth.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?

Surprisingly this Kiko one when I was in Paris last November.

KSL1

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

Two- the Kiko lipstick above which I wore today and my Caudalie Lip Conditioner. I rarely have more than two in my bag.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?

See question 4, but more recently I've been absolutely loving my Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet.

LCL8

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

At the moment I have them in a Glossybox, but I'm constantly on the look out for the perfect lipstick storage that allows me to see them all better.

10. What lipsticks are you currently lusting after?

Chanel Suspense, Guerlain Rouge G L'Extrait lip Colour in Orgueil, the new Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy lipsticks, Givenchy Rouge Interdit Voluptuous Nude and any of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks.

Valentine's Date Outfit With House Of Fraser

House of Fraser are running a Valentine's Day blogger competition on their blog this week. All you have to do is create your ideal Valentine's Date outfit and post it to your blog. You can find all of the details on how to enter here

HoF Valentines outfit

As soon as I saw this dress I thought of Twin Peaks (not very romantic, I know) and I thought it was perfect for a casual Valentine's date. As it's still freezing I paired it with these gorgeous Whistles ankle boots and a faux leather jacket to make the outfit more casual. I added a skinny black patent belt to break up the pattern of the dress. Then I added pops of red with this perfect Lulu Guinness lips clutch (I am dying over how amazing this is!) and matching red lipstick and nail polish. I finished off the outfit with this cute heart initial necklace and my favourite evening scent, Stella by Stella McCartney.

I don't have any plans this Valentine's day but I could totally see myself wearing this entire outfit for lots of different occasions. What do you think? Do you like any of my choices?

Do you have any Valentine's Day plans?

Baptiste

My mam got me this Illamasqua nail polish in the shade Baptiste a few months ago and I had high hopes after she raved about their nail polishes.

IB5 IB6 IB1
IB4 IB2

The colour is so beautiful, it's a deep shimmery purple that applies beautifully and wears really well. I actually didn't have a darker purple shade in my collection, for some reason I'd never come across one that I really liked but this one is so stunning. I now want to try out more of the Illamasqua polishes.

What are you wearing on your nails at the moment?

BTX Hair Treatment

Back in November I was invited into The Art Team Hair Salon just off Grafton street in Dublin for one of their exclusive BTX hair treatments. BTX is a Botox effect treatment for the hair which sounds a lot scarier than it actually is.

. WP_20131114_001 WP_20131114_013 WP_20131114_010 WP_20131114_015 WP_20131114_017 BTX1

The treatment promises to revive and tame the hair giving it shine and softness and eliminating frizz. It's ideal for use on damaged, dehydrated, dull and weak hair. It is also recommended for mistreated, coloured or bleached hair and for the repair of split ends. Depending on your hair type your stylist will customise the formula, which contains caviar oil, B5, collagen and E vitamins, to meet your specific needs.

The treatment was added to wet hair and then a lamp was used for about 15 minutes, then the majority of the treatment was washed out leaving some of it still in the hair and then it was finished off with a blow dry leaving it shiny and soft.

Since I stopped colouring my hair It'd gotten a lot healthier, I no longer suffer from split ends, but I do find my hair can get quite dry and is prone to frizz because it is naturally curly. I found that the treatment made my hair softer and less frizzy, it dried more quickly and took less time to heat style.

The treatment lasts up to 4 weeks, takes just 45 minutes and costs €50. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is suffering from damage caused by frequent colouring or perhaps if you have an event coming up or just even if you just want to give your hair a treat!

Thank you to Hollie and the ladies at The Art Team for their generosity and time.

Have you heard of this treatment? Would you like to try it out?
