I first saw Gattaca about ten years ago on television one night. My sister and I watched it and fell instantly in love with it. I went out and ordered the soundtrack in HMV straight away. It seems to be one of those films people either love or hate. I love everything about it, the music (Michael Nyman is a genius), the cinematography, the cast: Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke and Jude Law, and the gorgeous retro-futuristic set design, locations and costumes and of course the story. It's just such a beautiful film.
I adore the colours used in the film; blue, yellow, green and orange. Donnacha and I recently watched a Michael Winterbottom film called I Want You which had the same Colour scheme and we both realised about halfway through that the same Director of Photography, Slawomir Idziak, had worked on both films. It's written and directed by Andrew Niccol who wrote another one of my favourite films The Truman Show.
Here's a screenshot of my flickr album of the film just to get a better idea of the overall colour scheme.
Have you seen Gattaca? What do you think?

The production stills are awesome, dear Emma! I love those colors, and based on your description, the film seems like a great one, just my style. I hope to see it soon! I also hope all is well with you and your ailing family members. I think of you all quite often, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom! I really appreciate your kind thoughts! I think you might really like this film, let me know if you watch it!
DeleteGorgeous photos! I know I've seen Gattaca and liked it, but I obviously need to see it again because I can't really remember the plot xo
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know what you think if you watch it again. It's a really original plot!
